What will I be doing?

ü Joining a team of motivated professionals at the 5th largest Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in the country.

ü Assuming a mix of responsibilities, including database operation and analysis, transportation planning and project programming, tracking transportation project implementation, and participating in other typical MPO activities.

ü Becoming a subject matter expert on the region’s master list of transportation projects and helping track the status of local agencies’ progress.

ü Creating and maintaining transportation project databases using MS Access and MS SQL Server Management Studio including supporting database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems; designing database management tools; answering user questions.

ü Assisting in the administration of state, federal and regional transportation funding programs by supporting the preparation of Transportation Improvement Program, the 10-year Plan, the Regional Transportation Plan and annual reports (e.g., Annual Project Listing).

ü Performing quality control checks on detailed transportation planning-related project information.

ü Responding to TIP/RTP data inquiries from a variety of stakeholders and adding value with your perspective and experience.

 

Key Qualifications

ü Experience in urban or regional planning, public administration, monitoring and reporting, data analysis, database administration

ü Thorough knowledge of transportation and land use planning, policies, regulations, and best management practices, and the ability to solve planning-related problems

ü Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills

ü Proficiency with collecting, sorting and compiling data for analysis

ü Working expertise with MS Excel and understand how to efficiently manipulate tables, charts, graphs, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH, INDEX, and CHOOSE functions

ü Working technical knowledge in MS Access and MS SQL Server Management Studio and understand how to create, maintain, and manipulate databases, tables, queries, forms, reports, store procedures, and macros

ü Ability to coordinate and communicate with other team members and external partners

Do you have…

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study

ü 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, or in similar job-related duties
