What will I be doing? 

Provide leadership and management for the Transportation Department which serves as the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Serve as an alternate to the Director for the MPO. Develop and implement programs and operations to successfully achieve regional goals and initiatives. Build agency capacity by implementing measures that improve the Transportation Department’s service delivery.

ü Apply expertise in transportation planning, working with stakeholders, and strategic thinking to help lead one of the largest MPOs in the country and solve transportation challenges for one of the most complex regions.

ü  Support the Director of Transportation on key strategic and administrative matters.

ü Support development of department goals, action plans, and budgets

ü Provide leadership of Programs and Program Managers to include development of action plans, performance appraisals, recruitment of staff and professional development.

ü Facilitates development of intra and inter agency work teams and relationships to execute plans.

ü Provides recommendations for job transitions, pay adjustments, performance management, recruitment and training and development.

ü Assists with setting agendas for various meetings and serve as an alternate in meetings representing the Director as needed.

ü Ensure compliance with federal and state transportation planning regulations in addition to agency policies and procedures.

 

Key Qualifications  

ü Strong knowledge of State and Federal transportation planning regulations and guidance required.

ü Experience leading, managing, training, and leading staff with a variety of roles, experience, and authority.

ü Experience with local or metropolitan transportation programs, such as transit operations, transportation project development (planning, design, preliminary engineering), travel demand management, incident management, etc.

ü Experience with Metropolitan Planning Organizations

ü Knowledge of public agency administration, including budget development, contract management and administration.

 

Do you have…  

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study 

ü 10 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

ü Graduate degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study 

ü More than 10 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties. 

ü American Institute of Certified Planners certification or equivalent

  

Expected Hiring Range  

ü The anticipated hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $155,000.
